�coming soon you never know what david dawsey of golf-patents. com will find. last week it was a recently published patent application for a callaway driver. unlike most drivers, where the bottom of the club-face is near the ground when soled, the callaway patent allows for a sole design that raises the bottom of the face off the ground. conventionally, players strive to hit the center of the face, but with this design the contact point would be slightly higher, producing less backspin.
