� winner fifth-seeded suzann pettersen defeated third-seeded cristie kerr, 1 up, in the final of the sybase match play championship. it was pettersen’s seventh lpga win and her first since 2009. the 30-year-old norwegian had 12 top-10s in 2010, including six runner-ups. pettersen never trailed in the final, taking a 2-up lead through four holes. she sealed the win when she birdied the last hole before kerr hit her fourth shot.

�noteworthy kerr missed several short putts on the back nine, but birdied 17 to extend the match. … kerr and pettersen are familiar match-play opponents, having played two four-ball matches against each other in the 2009 solheim cup. kerr won once with paula creamer, pettersen once with anna nordqvist. … former no. 1 ai miyazato lost in the quarters, but the t- 5 was still her first top 10 of the year.
