one of the worst-kept secrets in championship circles is out: the USGa and
Shinnecock hills have been courting one another for some time. Still, no one
would be surprised if the press conference does not happen this week. after
all, the contract with Shinnecock has always been a bit different, considering
the club’s unique bargaining position as an incredible design and logistics
headache. throw in the memories of 2004’s course setup shenanigans that
produced many bruised egos, and that will be one fine-print-heavy pre-nup.
but if it’s Shinnecock hills (below) we’re talking about, there’s no need to rush
