na’s waggle is no giggle nough with the kevin na jokes already. like, if kevin na were a ventriloquist his dum- my would be named waggles. it wasn’t funny to steve sax when he couldn’t throw to first base or steve blass when he couldn’t throw a strike. and they have a syndrome and a disease named for them. what’s kevin got, sha na na? it wasn’t funny to sergio garcia when half the population of the new york metropolitan area started counting his re-grips at the 2002 u.s. open. at least garcia didn’t think so. na, who led the players after 54 holes but shot a final-round 76 to finish t- 7, tried to handle his unhappy renown with the same good humor he showed when he made a 16 on the ninth hole in last year’s valero texas open. but, when he talks about the hitch in his get-along, he sounds a little like rain man. “it’s usually a little waggle, half waggle, little waggle, half waggle and boom,” he said. “but if it doesn’t work, i’ve got to go in pairs. so, it’ll go four, and if it doesn’t work, it’ll go six. and after that, just—there’s a lot going on in my head. and it’s not—i’m not being nice to myself, trust me. i’m ripping myself.” go in two. go in four. go in six. eight minutes to wapner. na shouldn’t feel too bad, though. hamlet had the same problem. —Jim Moriarty (@GWMoriarty) 03
