the shoprite lpga classic,
beating katherine hull by
four strokes with a 12-under
201. it was the second vic-
tory in three starts for lewis,
who also won the mobile
bay lpga classic. lewis
opened with rounds of 65-
65 to take a seven-stroke
lead into the final round and
got as low as 16 under par
through eight holes sunday
before finishing with three
bogeys and a double on her
last 10 holes. she’ll move to
third on the rolex rankings
when they are released this
morning.
�major prep lewis, who
is the last american to win
a women’s major—the 2011
kraft nabisco championship—goes into this week’s
lpga championship at locust hill cc in pittsford, n.y.,
with seven top- 10 finishes in
10 starts this year. she was
t- 4 in defense of her title at
the kraft nabisco.
